Classroom Procedures & Expectations:

    • Prompt. Attendance is important. Be on time, enter the classroom quietly and sit in your assigned seat. You must be in class at least 60 minutes to be counted present.
    • Prepared. Bring all necessary materials and completed assignments to class each day. Refer to the agendas on the board and on Canvas daily.
    • Productive. Maximize learning time by staying on task, following directions and remaining seated. Complete all work when it is assigned. This includes showing your work and not just the answer.
    • Responsible. Missed work is your responsibility. Check the bin or Canvas for your copy. Make-up work must be turned into the tray. You will have 2 days for every day you are absent to turn in your work. However, tests and quizzes are expected to be completed when you return to class, even if you miss the review the day before.
    • Respectful. Let’s give our best effort during instruction, quizzes and tests. This means communication is only allowed during appropriate times and it must be meaningful. Asking for assistance during quizzes and tests is not allowed. Use instructional time, any time prior to assessments, for questions and reassurance.
    • Polite. Be nice or neutral, but not rude or harsh. No bullying; this is a safe environment.
  • All work needs to be completed with a pencil.
  • No eating in the classroom. Only a clear bottle with water. Gum must not be seen or heard.
  • Only your notebook, calculator, pencil sharpeners and pencils are permitted to be on your desk.
  • Electronic devices will only be allowed on the desk, face down, during independent work time but at the teacher’s discretion.
  • There will be a specific policy in place for restroom visits. Warm ups, Q&A from homework and instruction is not the best time to be absent from the class.  A signed pass must accompany you anywhere you go outside of the classroom.

Required Activities:

  • Daily class attendance is necessary to be successful. It is the student’s responsibility to complete and turn in all

make-up work. The student is required to make up

all missed work within 2 days after returning to school.

  • Notebooks.  Students are required to fill in the guided notes handed to them.
  • Classwork/Homework.  Homework is assigned daily and expected to be completed. The student must SHOW ALL work IN PENCIL to receive full credit.

LATE GRADE:  You will lose 10 points per day if it is late.  Make up work will be graded for accuracy and completeness.

  • Quizzes.  Announced and Unannounced.
  • Tests. Given after each unit and/or in the middle of longer units.  IF YOU ARE ABSENT THE DAY BEFORE A TEST, YOU WILL TAKE THE TEST WITH THE REST OF THE CLASS (keeping in mind that you have missed the test review).  If you do miss a test, be ready to take it when you get back.  Students who cheat, talk, or communicate with each other during a test will be given a zero for the test.
  • Retests. Given after the initial test has been given and remediation has followed.  You will only be responsible for retrying the problem numbers you missed.  This will be done in class.  Missing the day of retests will require students to make it up after school during tutoring.

***SPECIAL NOTE/REMINDER***

You are expected to follow all policies  listed in the Franklinton High School Handbook.  These include policies on dress code, tardies, attendance, skipping class, etc.  It is your responsibility to read and be aware of all policies and consequences covered in the handbook

Consequences for negative behavior:

  • 1st Offense – Warning – verbal or non – verbal
  • 2nd Offense - A phone call to parent and/or guardian
  • 3rd Offense – removal from class and administrative referral

*Severe class disruptions and inappropriate behavior will result in immediate removal to ISS.

**No student will be allowed to disrupt the learning of his or her classmates.

CELL PHONE POLICY:  First part of class, all cell phones should be away.  If I see it being used, I will hold it for you on my desk till the end of class.  The red sign will be on the board to remind you.

Second part of class, when working on an assignment, phones may be out to listen to music from a playlist ONLY.  The green sign will be on the board to remind you. Pick a playlist, then put the phone faced down on the corner of the desk and do not touch it again.  If the phone is being used other than for music, I will hold it.

  • Offense 1 - I will hold it and you can have it back at the end of class and make parent contact
  •  Offense 2 - I will again hold it, give it back at the end of class and make parent contact
  • Offense 3 and more - phone will be collected and sent to the office with an administrative referral documented.

Tardy Policy:   You must be in the room ready to begin class in order to be considered on time.  Dropping off your bookbag and leaving the room does not mean you are present when the bell rings.  You will be marked tardy.

  • If you are 5 minutes or less late to class: I will mark the tardy in PowerSchool
  • If you are more than 5 minutes late to class, I will mark the tardy in PowerSchool and a referral will be sent to Administration for skipping class

Dress Code: In addition to the Franklin County School Board Policies, the following rules and regulations apply to Franklinton High School students.  Students are accountable for knowing these rules and regulations as well as the School Board Policies contained in the Student Code of Conduct. (These are the more common violations)
