Procedures:

Organizing Sketchbook: Most of your work will be done in your sketchbook. Handouts, assignments, in class drawings are expected to be in your sketchbook.  Bring your sketchbook every day.  You can improve your grade by adding additional sketches to your sketchbook and showing me these sketches.

Clean Up: This is one of the most important parts of Art class. Make sure you leave your desk, sinks, or materials clean for the next person to use.

Pencils and Sharpener: You are to be prepared to class every day with a pencil. If there is a lesson going on there are pencils available to use if yours breaks. You are not to use the pencil sharpener while anyone is giving a lesson.

Hall Pass: Do not leave the classroom without a hall pass. I will hand you a yellow slip with the time and specific location you will be going.

Enter and Exit the Room: Arrive on time and look on the board for instructions. I often start giving instructions right after the bell rings. Five – Fifteen minutes before class ends we will start cleaning up and get ready to leave the classroom. Listen for specific instructions and follow them properly.

Drills: Be respectful and alert when we are practicing fire, tornado, and lockdown drills. These are serious matters and you are to be acting responsibly.

This is a very laid back relaxing class. It will probably be your favorite class of the day. Don’t mistake that as a place to be lazy and not work or goof off. Art is relaxing. You will enjoy doing it. Everyone does not have to be a spectacular artist to create something cool to hang on your bedroom wall at home. I look forward to you finding your “way”!

Cell Phones are allowed for listening to music while working. You may use them to find references to draw from. Don’t let them distract you.
