COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Art I is designed for all students who wish to LEARN about VISUAL ART. It is a general course that covers various techniques, media, art appreciation, and creative thinking. There will be a lot of time spent on drawing skills. 

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS:

  • Respect Others and Their Work.
  • Do Not Interfere with Another Person’s Production.
  • Do Not Leave the Classroom Without a Pass.

GRADING:

60% Formative - Projects and Tests

40% Summative - Classwork, Artist Exploration, Sketchbook (Bring to Class Everyday), Participation (clean up, discussion, material care, needed materials)

Materials Needed:

  • Sketchbook - Canson XL Mix Media Pad   9x12, Sketchbook needs to be at least 90 lb paper and 9 x 12
  • Pencils - Any wooden pencil you can find. A dollar store is a great option. 
  • Colored Pencils - Crayola Colored Pencils, 12ct. Feel free to buy what is comfortable for you to use.
  • Paint Brushes - Needs to be a variety of sizes. Would be best to buy a brush set for acrylic paint.

ABSENT/MAKE-UP WORK:

Students have the entire quarter to turn in any work with no penalty. We will be working diligently throughout the semester. Be sure not to get behind. 

TARDY POLICY:

Be on time for class every day. If you are not in class by the bell you are tardy. More than 5 min late will be considered skipping. 

TUTORING:

Tutoring is available after school on an as-needed basis. Please see Ms. Stanberry to schedule. 

EXAM EXEMPTIONS:

Exemptions for the final exam are according to the grade and missing days. You can be exempt from the exam if you have: 

4 absences with an A in the class.

3 absences with a B in the class.

2 absences with a C in the class.
