CORE CURRICULLUM – Introductory Craft Skills

 

     CORE Curriculum is an introduction to the basic knowledge of construction skills. The course includes calculations, safety, measuring, sheet metal work, basic employability skills, terminology, materials, supplies, and the nature & safe use of tools & equipment, including information on health regulations & all installation codes related to construction areas are covered. 

REQUIREMENTS:

     A suitable loose-leaf 3-ring notebook will be required of each student.  The notebook will be considered evidence of course interest and preparation during the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration course.  If you are faithful to your notebook, it will provide you with the necessary material and information needed to be successful in this class.  Students may supply their own hearing protection, and safety glasses.  All safety glasses are NOT to be shaded.

 

GRADING PROCEDURE:

 

Daily Assignments 60%

Tests/Quizzes 40%

     *Pop Quizzes will be given during any nine-week period when the instructor feels the need to do so.

 

Classroom Rules:

  1. No talking when teacher is talking.
  2. No cell phone use during class time.
  3. Follow all directions the first time they are given.
  4. Always show respect to fellow classmates and teacher.
  5. Never operate any tools without a safety buddy, and you must always get permission from the teacher before each use.

 

 

Shop/Lab Rules:

  1. Follow ALL SAFETY RULES!
  2. Wear Safety Goggles/glasses at all times in ACR Shop area. Always be careful when operating rotating/moving equipment!
