Class Objective: To understand, apply, analyze, and evaluate the basics of the Earth and Universe

Class Theme: Our world in terms of spheres

Supplies: Pencils, Pens (black or blue), Notebook or Loose-leaf paper and Folder, Folder or Binder

My Expectations:

  1. Be respectful: This includes your teacher, your classmates, and yourself.
  2. Ask questions when you have them, but do so without fanfare.
  3. Don’t move around the classroom unnecessarily or throw things.
  4. Bathroom breaks should be taken during breaks and lunch unless you have a doctor’s note. If you must go during class go during self-guided work time.
  5. If you think what you are doing might be wrong, distracting, or unnecessary… it probably is, so stop doing it.
  6. During drills or emergency situations please do as instructed or expected in quiet or calm manner. Unless there is an apocalyptic event (such as alien invasion or zombies) in which case it is every man/woman for themselves.

Classroom Procedures:

  • Each morning will start with a warm-up. You will write why you believe the warm up is relevant in at least 3 sentences on a sheet of paper. This paper will be taken up on the last day of each week.
  • When passing up papers hand them to the person in front of you. The person in the front seat will then pass them to the person at the farthest right desk.
  • Assigned seats will be changed after every test.
  • If you must leave the classroom for any reason, make sure you take a hall pass.
  • During labs, any assigned safety equipment must be worn and not removed until EVERYONE is finished, unless otherwise instructed. No food or drink in the lab space.
  • You will know about any labs or activates where special dress is needed at least one day in advance.
  • When conducting debates everyone will have a chance to speak. If you want to make a statement, please raise your hand and wait until the current person has finished before you begin.
  • If you catch Ms. Johnson making a mistake (incorrectly solving a problem, using the wrong word in an explanation, etc.) and you point it out respectfully, you get a piece of candy.
  • The one exception to throwing things in class is trashketball. We will use this as a study tool before tests. So, practice your skills at home (not in class).
