6th Grade Social Studies

Welcome to 6th Grade Social Studies.

My name is Ms. Mullen. I have been an educator going on five years. This is my first year at CCMS and I am delighted to be here. My fiance and I recently moved to the area with our dog and cat. My favorite subject in school was always Social Studies. I hope after this year my students will be able to say the same.

This year you will be learning about ancient world history. We will learn about ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, and China. We will explore how civilizations develop around rivers and the laws, religions, and inventions that each early culture developed. It is an exciting time period to learn about, and I think you will find it to be an adventure. I try to make this subject as engaging and informative as I can. We will read, take notes, write, do projects, and of course have quizzes and tests. I try to make sure the learning activities are varied and address different learning styles.

The keys to success in my class, and in 6th grade, are organization and turning in assignments. To help you stay organized, you will use an Interactive Student Notebook. This notebook will contain everything you need to be successful and needs to be brought to class everyday. To help you stay on top of your assignments, my CANVAS page provides electronic copies of handouts, notes, study tools, and vocabulary. So, if you miss a day or lose an assignment they are only a click away.
