Math 4 provides students an overview in studies of functions, statistics
and probability. Appropriate technology, from manipulative to calculators and application
software, will be used regularly for instruction and assessment. This course includes but is not
limited to the following goals such as data analysis, probability and algebra. The learner will
analyze different types of data and apply probability and/or statistical concepts to solve
problems. The learner will also use functions to model and solve problems.

 

Required Materials: (needed daily)

  • 2-inch Binder
  • Notebook Paper
  • Pencils & Erasers 
  • Color Pencils, Markers, Crayons, etc.
  • Charged Chromebook
  • Graphing Calculator (Recommend TI 84 plus)

 

Classroom Rules and Expectations:

    • Productive. 
    • Patient. 
    • Prepared. 
    • Prompt. 
    • Polite. 
    • All work needs to be completed with a pencil.
    • Cell phones should be put away and turned off. 
  • Students must follow county dress code.

  • Students should use the restroom before or after class.  Bathroom emergencies do happen.  This will be handled with a bathroom pass.  You may use up to 6 bathroom passes each 9 weeks without penalty.

Consequences:

    • 1st Offense – Warning – verbal or non – verbal
    • 2nd Offense – removal from class and administrative referral

*Severe class disruptions and inappropriate

behavior will result in immediate removal to ISS. 

**No student will be allowed to disrupt the learning of his or her classmates.

Required Activities:

    • Daily class attendance is necessary, it is the student’s responsibility to complete and turn in all make-up work.
    • Notebooks.  Students are required to take notes daily, they must be organized by date and include a title.
    • Classwork/Homework.  Homework is assigned daily!  Expected to be completed. Must SHOW work for credit. Four 4 problems will be collected and graded for accuracy. 
  • Quizzes.  One or Two for each unit.
  • Tests.  End of each unit.

 

Grading:

    Quarter Grades (9-weeks)

      Tests/Projects: 60%

      Quizzes/Classwork/Homework: 40%

    Semester Grade (F1)

      Quarter 1: 40%

      Quarter 2: 40%

      Final Exam (Teacher-made): 20% of the overall grade.  

 

Late Policy:

A student will lose 10 points every day an assignment is late. If a student is absent on the day an assignment is due, they have 2 days to submit all missed assignments. If they are absent on the day of a test or a test review, the student will be required to take the test on their first day back on campus. 

 

Grading Scale:

A = 90 – 100

B = 80 – 89

C = 70 – 79

D = 60 – 69

F = 59 and below
