Math II Classroom Syllabus

Spring Semester 2022

Instructor: Mrs. Lewis     Email: Jessicalewis@fcschools.net     (919) 496-3975 Ext. 322

Course Description:  Math II continues a progression of the standards established in Math I.  Math II includes: analyzing quadratic functions and solving quadratic equations in the complex number system, transformations in the coordinate plane, congruence and similarity of figures, trigonometry with triangles, modeling with geometry, and probability.

Attendance: Students who miss five or more days of this period are in violation of the FCS Attendance Policy and may be required to repeat the course.

Tardy Policy: Students are expected to be in the classroom when the bell begins to ring. Consequences for being tardy are outlined in the BHS Student Code of Conduct.

Nine-weeks Grade Distribution:   Homework/Classwork: 20%      Quizzes: 30%    Tests: 50%

Final Grade: The final course grade will be calculated by averaging each of the student’s nine weeks grades (at 40% weight each) and Final Exam grade (at 20% weight).

Assignments:  Posted in CANVAS and are due on the following school day unless otherwise stated.

Late work: Unexcused late work is not accepted.   If work is late due to an absence, the “Make-up work” policy below applies.  As unusual circumstances may occur in which a student is not able to complete assigned homework by the due date, two homework assignment grades will be exempted for each 9-week marking period before quarter grades are finalized.

Make-up work: Students are allowed two school days to make-up any missed assignment for every one day they are absent. After the two-day period has passed, any missing assignments become late work. (See the late work policy.) Quizzes need to be made up prior to the end of the current unit. Students have until the next scheduled test to make up a missed test. A score of “1” will indicate that the student was either not present the day the assignment was due or was not present the day the assignment was given. It is the student’s responsibility to visit the course Canvas page to get the missed assignments.

Supply List:

Chromebooks: Students are expected to bring their charged Chromebook to class every day. Students should charge the device every night. Chromebooks may or may not be used everyday, but students should come to class prepared.

Restroom Policy:  Because of Covid, students will be offered scheduled restroom breaks. If the student needs to go other than during those breaks, the student must be escorted by a staff member. Students may not use the restroom between classes
