GOALS: This is a Math Class and I have very high expectations for all of my students.

Math 3 is a state-mandated course for graduation with an EOC.  We will build on student’s knowledge from Math 1 and 2.  The units covered include an analysis of functions including absolute value, piece wise, polynomial, and rational functions; geometry with an emphasis on circles, triangles and parallelograms; and statistics.

SUPPLIES: Each student is required to have a Chromebook (school supplied), working calculator (time to buy, if possible) or you may use Desmos which is on your Chromebook,  paper, graph paper, plain paper, large supply of pencils, and erasers, and a very flexible attitude.  Something to take clear and readable pictures  of your work to upload DAILY.

ABSENCES:  Students should make every effort to be IN class every day - that means logging in to meets and being ready to go when class starts!     If you miss the class the video and Smart will be uploaded ASAP  in Modules on Canvas, but it many take a while and can be a bit grainy (so comes to meets EVERYDAY)  It is your responsibility to view it and view supporting documents before saying 'I don't get it'  All test will be taken while you are online and uploaded at the end of the testing period.  Make-up tests will need to be scheduled with me by you (your responsibility)

GRADING POLICY:

60% Summative Assessments  (40% test and 20% quizzes)

40% Formative Assessments  ( homework, class practice, etc)

STUDENT HELP:  First work hard and ask questions in class!, let me know of problem areas and I will try to continue discussion during class or the following day.  My pledge is to do the best I can everyday. You are important to me !!  I want to be a great teacher for you during this time.

PARENT ALERT - If you or your child is having problems with a certain topic, there are several ways to find help.

Students and Parents/Guardians: PowerSchool is Franklin County Public School’s online site for receiving current, up-to-date information about your student’s progress in all four of their classes. Students and parents/guardians are able to view progress reports and track their performance throughout the semester. You never have to wait to receive grade information again!  Make sure you can access it to keep up with grades all the time.

       HAVE A GREAT SEMESTER!!

       Sincerely

        Jessica Pearce
