What are we learning these first few weeks of 2nd quarter?

Social Studies ELA Math Science
4.C&G.1 Understand the development, structure and function of North Carolina's government.

4.C&G.2  Analyze the North Carolina Constitution.

RL.4.3- Describe in depth a character, setting, or event in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text.

RL.4.4 - Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including words that affect meaning and tone.

W.4.2 -Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.

4.OA.3 Solve two-step word problems involving the four operations with whole numbers.

NC.4.NBT.5 Multiply a whole number of up to three digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply up to two two-digit numbers with place value understanding using area models, partial products, and the properties of operations. Use models to make connections and to develop the algorithm.


 NC.4.NBT.6 Find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to three-digit dividends and one-digit divisors with place value understanding using rectangular arrays, area models, repeated subtraction, partial quotients, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Solve problems involving area and perimeter. 

NC.4.MD.3 Solve problems with area and perimeter.

4.P.1 Explain how various forces affect the motion of an object.

4.P.3 Recognize that energy takes various forms that may be grouped based on their interaction with matter.

Please mark your calendars! The YES Fall Book Fair will be held from October 15-November 1. Family night is scheduled for Tuesday, October 29 from 4-6 pm. There will be an estimation station, raffle for free books, and a build-a-snowman station as our theme is, "Artic Adventure!" Also, on Thursday, October 31, we will also have our first annual "Dress Like Your Favorite Storybook Character!" Please see the flyer being sent home today!
