Meet Mrs. Anderson!

Mrs. Anderson was born and raised in Louisburg, North Carolina. She graduated from Louisburg High School in 2005. As a NC Teaching Fellow, she attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in 2009 and Master of Arts in Teaching degree in 2010. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, a women’s music fraternity and the National Association for Music Education. Mrs. Anderson taught band at Perquimans County High School from 2010-2014 and at Fike High School from 2014-2018. She is in her 13th year of teaching  and loves being back home!

 

Learning Highlights!

Kindergarten & 1st Grade: Students will study steady beat, simple rhythms, conductor cues to start and stop, voice types (whisper, talk, sing), high and low notes on instruments and with our voices.

2nd Grade: Students will study steady beat, changing tempo, next level rhythms, music notation, solfege, and sight-singing patterns

3rd Grade: Students will study steady beat, changing tempo, next level rhythm patterns, music notes on the treble clef staff, music composition, sight-singing patterns, and playing the recorder. 

4th Grade: Students will review concepts from 3rd Grade music and will study Orff keyboard instruments, and chorus songs. 

5th Grade: Students will review concepts from 4th Grade music and will study more difficult Orff keyboard instruments, and chorus songs.
