In celebration of Black History this week we will view a video of how slaves were brought to Eastern North Carolina to dig canals for transportation and farming.  Students will read about slave life on southern plantations.

As we read, we will discuss the economy and social pressures that encouraged slavery.

QUESTIONS FOR STUDENTS TO PONDER:

"How has America changed over time?"

"What are the effects of following the crowd?"

"How does power corrupt?"

 

Remember these safety tips:

It is Flu Season  Dress for winter!  Proper outerwear includes warm coats, gloves, hats and waterproof footwear.
