Welcome to my 2nd Grade page!

This year your child will be going through a lot of changes in how they learn and grow.  They will begin transitioning from learning to read to reading to learn.   During the months ahead they will practice daily routines that are designed to assist them with becoming more independent and responsible.

The temperature in our building varies from day to day, and sometimes from hour to hour.  Please remember this fact when dressing for the inside of the building.  The Franklin County Schools’ dress code states that flip flops are not to be worn to school.  Please make sure that your child wears shoes with a strap on the heel or sneakers.  Flip flops are unsafe for the playground and gym class.  You can review the full dress code policy at www.fcschools.net.

Please make sure that your child is reading silently for 20 minutes each evening and then reading aloud for 10 minutes.  This will help them with their verbal communication skills, reading fluency skills, and reading comprehension skills.  They will also need to practice their addition and subtraction basic facts as well.

If you have any questions, or would like additional information please contact me at 919-853-3577.  You can also email me at marycard@ fcschools.net.
