OCTOBER NEWS

-We are excited to be starting to take AR tests this month! Please be sure to read with your child each night and fill out the reading log in their daily folder.

-We are learning about internet safety this month.

-Important Dates: October 10th- Field Trip Permission Slip and Money Due

October 13th- Early Release Day (Dismiss at 12:45)

October 14th- Teacher Workday

October 27th- PTA Night 6:00 First Grade Performs!

 

NOVEMBER NEWS

-Students are doing well with AR. Continue reading nightly with them and filling out the AR log in their daily folder. 

-Important Dates: November 8th- Late Arrival

November 9th- Report Card Pick Up 3:00-6:00

November 10th- Fall Make Up Pictures

November 11th- Holiday..No School

November 23rd-25th- Thanksgiving Break

DECEMBER NEWS

-This month we will be writing informational text.  We will be learning about reindeer and seasons and writing informational pieces on what we learned. 

-We will be reading data from graphs and identifying shapes. 

-We will also be learning about Christmas Around the World.

-Important Dates: December 8th - PTA 6:00 (3rd Grade Performs)

December 9th -First Grade Field Trip Disney on Ice

December 20th- Pajama Day

December 21st -January 1st- Winter Break

 

JANUARY NEWS

-This month we have a lot of Middle of the Year testing that will be occurring. Please be sure to have your child to school on time each day, make sure they are well rested, and also that they have eaten a good breakfast at home or school. 

-We will be learning how to tell time to the hour and half hour.

-We will be reviewing for the DPI Math test. 

-Important Dates: January 16th - Holiday No School

January 24th - Teacher Workday

January 30th - Report Card Pick Up / Conferences

FEBRUARY NEWS

-Please continue reading with your child every night and filling out the AR log. Also, be sure to study their weekly spelling and sight words with them.

-We will be working on opinion writing.

-Important Dates: February 15th - Early Release

February 27th - Progress Reports will be sent home 

February 28th - Family Reading Night 3:30-4:30 or 5:00-6:00

 

MARCH NEWS

- We will be learning about animal habitats this month during science.

-In math, we will focus on these topics: commutative property, tens and ones, and word problems. 

-Important Dates: March 9th - Field Trip to Children's Museum and Science Center

March 15th - Early Release 

March 16th - Stemville 6:00-8:00

March 24th - PBIS Hat Day 

March 29th - End of the 3rd Nine Weeks & Spring Individual/Group Pictures

March 31st - PBIS Basketball Spirit Day 

 

APRIL NEWS

- We will be working on narrative writing.

-In math, we will be reviewing crucial skills to prepare for the end of the year math assessment.

-We will continue to work on written comprehension questions to prepare for the end of year reading TRC assessment.

-This month is full of end of the year assessments in reading and math. Please be sure to have your child at school every day well rested, full, and ready to learn!
